The Jaegar Reading Test is used in two different ways by Optometrists. A doctor may hold the chart at a specific distance from a patient’s eyes and ask him to read the passage with the smallest type size they can see. Another way to use the chart is to move it forward and back until the patient can read a specific type size.
This test is printed on four stiff plasticised pages in booklet form. Text runs from J1 through to J20 on three of the pages and there is a telephone directory and railway timetable on the fourth page.
